Top 5 Tourist Hot Spots in Moab

Making the most of a trip to Moab isn’t hard to do. This destination naturally offers up scenery and options for fun that make it simple to indulge in a one-of-a-kind stay! That said, Moab definitely has a few places on the must-visit list that stand out from the crowd. When you’re excited to embrace every Moab tourist attraction in town, the following are five that you simply won’t want to overlook while you’re here. Happy Moab travels!

Slickrock Trail

The landscape that makes up Moab is a collection of captivating dunes, cliffs, rock formations, and canyons. That said, it comes as no surprise that mountain biking is a favored way for outdoor adventurers to take it all in and enjoy a challenge too! While there are a multitude of mountain biking trails to choose from in this area, the vast majority of cycling enthusiasts will head to Slickrock Trail at least once while they’re in town. This happens with good reason! Slickrock Trail is a thrilling and scenic route that traverses over 10 miles of inspiring landscape. It’s accessed only a few miles northeast of Moab and provides a technically demanding ride that’s sure to be remembered by adventurers long after they’ve left the route behind.

Sand Flats Recreation Area

Whether you’re in Moab on a romantic escape, traveling this way solo, or enjoying time with the entire family including little ones, a stop at the Sand Flats Recreation Area promises to please. This popular tourist hot spot is known and loved for its wide-open recreational areas that provide access to captivating canyons, mesas, sandstone domes, and more. Many people head this way to take to the trails while others come to admire the view made possible by a backdrop designed by the La Sal Mountains. From daytime exploring to evening stargazing, the Sand Flats Recreation Area is not to be missed.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Covering over 5,300 acres of high desert landscape and offering up unsurpassed views of the Colorado River, canyons, and cliffsides, it’s not hard to imagine why Dead Horse Point State Park is so popular among tourists. It’s a photographer’s dream come true and offers up endless possibilities for those that love to hit the trails. It’s a locale that beckons to climbers too and makes for a place that you’re likely to return to time and again. The most popular place to enjoy a spectacular view is Dead Horse Point itself. This sits at the end of a 2,000-foot mesa and provides a frame on a sweeping vista that’s hard to top.

Canyonlands National Park

A person could literally spend days exploring iconic Canyonlands National Park and still not see it all. It may be the notion that there’s just more to explore than you can even get to that makes this destination so wonderfully appealing to Moab visitors. It could also be the collection of sprawling canyons and colorful sandstone cliffs that makes Canyonlands National Park a place of superior interest. Likely, it’s a combination of it all! Rivers running through the park divide it into four distinct sections that visitors can try to conquer one at a time. These include The Needles, The Maze, Island in the Sky, and The Rivers. The beauty of taking time to explore each is that guests are invited to make the most of distinct natural landscapes that collectively make up an amazing place to discover.

Arches National Park

Of all the places to explore that Moab so freely offers up to its guests, there’s no place quite as tantalizing or iconic as Arches National Park. Here, photographs that have long hung on outdoor adventurer’s walls come to life in vivid and colorful style. Arches is as good as the photos would lead you to believe, in large part because it’s home to a stunning 2,000 sandstone arches—all of which are worth experiencing for yourself if you have the time. The park is a maze of trails that accommodate all skill levels and the options for snapping a pristine photo are seemingly endless too.
