Exploring Old Town Scottsdale truly affords you the opportunity to delve into everything magical the Arizona desert has to offer. Fill your days by exploring unique boutiques, appreciating art, and local jewelry created by locals, and treating yourself to treats at some of the local coffee shops and bakeries. Take time to appreciate the breathtaking sunsets that paint the desert sky before embarking on a night filled with fun and adventure. With renowned restaurants, the weekly Scottsdale ArtWalk, and the pulsing nightlife located in the Entertainment District – you’ll never find yourself without something to do. Unless of course nothing is what you’re after, in which case we highly recommend finding a picturesque outdoor seating area, a refreshing beverage in your hand, and settling in for some entertaining people-watching.
Where to Eat
Start your day off right with a caffeine fix at one of Old Town’s favorite coffee shops: Press Coffee or Cartel Coffee Lab. Armed and ready for the day, you can’t go wrong when it comes to walk-in dining options. If you’re craving some comfort food and good, old-fashioned nostalgia, stop in at Sugarbowl, an Old Town establishment that’s been around since 1958 and incidentally a rite of passage when it comes to ordering diner food and dessert. If you’re a foodie whose conscience won’t allow you to get a traditional diner burger, head to Farm & Craft for organic, gluten-free, and vegan options. Or opt instead for some of the hot dining spots with featured chefs, such as Matt Carter’s The Mission, Bernie Kantak’s Citizen Public House, or James Beard Award-winning Charleen Badman’s FnB.
Where to Play
Old Town offers an eclectic mix of local boutiques, luxury retailers, and just happens to be home to one of the country’s largest and most luxurious malls. Take a stroll down 5th Ave for some shopping or feast your eyes on some Avant-garde pieces with touring exhibitions, including a permanent installation by James Turrell, on display at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. For all things local and unique to Arizona, head to Sphinx Date Co. Palm & Pantry for some one-of-a-kind souvenirs for everyone at home. And when it’s time to escape the heat, Fashion Square Mall is THE PLACE to go, offering shopping, dining, and even a state-of-the-art movie theater for when you need to put your feet up.
