With peaks reaching over 13,000 feet and located just 20 miles south of Moab, you won’t believe the changing fauna throughout the mountain terrain on this three-hour drive (taking into account a slow pace and stops at viewpoints). Another local favorite drive is Potash Road, a 17-mile stretch of road jam-packed with towering sandstone cliffs on one side as the roaring Colorado River courses past you on the other. Home to “Wall Street,” a favorite for rock climbers, this area is also home to multiple favorite hikes, including Portal Overlook and Corona Arch. Not to mention you can also find ancient petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks on Potash.
Other favorite destinations obviously include Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Both offering their own unique take on the high desert of Utah, you’ll marvel at the thousands of acres offering breathtaking views of naturally occurring rock arches, colorful canyons, mesas, buttes, fins, and spires scattered throughout the rugged terrain.
